Where do empire penguins lay eggs?
Empire penguins (Aptenodytes forsteri), like all other penguins, lay their eggs on land, specifically in rookeries. Rookeries are large breeding colonies where penguins gather in vast numbers to reproduce and raise their young. These rookeries are typically located in sheltered areas along the coastlines of Antarctica and some subantarctic islands. Empire penguins are known to form one of the largest rookeries in the world.
