Do electric eels only live in the Amezon?

Electric eels are not only found in the Amazon. While the Amazon River basin is the most iconic and well-known habitat for electric eels, they are also found in other freshwater ecosystems in South America, such as the Orinoco River basin in Venezuela and Colombia, and in the rivers and streams of Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana.

Electric eels prefer slow-moving, shallow waters with muddy or sandy bottoms, where they can easily camouflage themselves and hunt for prey. They are capable of generating powerful electric shocks to stun their prey and defend themselves against predators.

Electric eels are fascinating creatures that have evolved a unique adaptation to their environment. Their ability to generate electricity allows them to survive and thrive in the diverse and challenging ecosystems of South America.
