Do ram fish get along with jack dempsey fish?

It is not recommended to keep ram fish (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi) and jack dempsey fish (Cichlasoma octofasciatum) together.

Here's why:

* Aggression: Jack Dempseys are known for their aggressive nature, especially towards smaller fish. They are significantly larger and more robust than ram fish, and are likely to view them as prey.

* Territoriality: Jack Dempseys are highly territorial fish, and they will often defend their territory aggressively. A ram fish would likely be harassed or even killed by a jack dempsey trying to defend its space.

* Water Parameters: While both species can tolerate similar water conditions, the optimal parameters for ram fish are slightly more specific. Jack Dempseys might create water conditions that are suboptimal for ram fish.

In summary: Keeping ram fish and jack dempseys together is a recipe for disaster, as the aggression of the jack dempsey would almost certainly lead to harm or death for the ram fish.

It's best to keep these fish separate for their safety and well-being.
