Care
Fill the Betta bowl with water.
Put pebbles in the bowl after rinsing them. Do this by running the pebbles under tap water to clear out debris and dust.
Let the container sit overnight to allow the water to become room temperature.
Put the Betta in the bowl and put the plant on top of the water, with the roots in the water.
Feed the Betta a small amount after 24 hours. The stress of moving from one container to another and then eating can kill the Betta.
Feed the Betta a small amount once a day. The Betta will eat off of the plant if it gets hungry in between feedings. Follow feeding instructions on your food's label.
Fill a large plastic container with water and cover it with a lid.
Let the container sit for a full 24 hours so it has time to reach room temperature.
Use a fish net to scoop the Betta out of its bowl and put the beta in the new water.
Pour out the old water and wipe off the inside of the bowl. A dab of dish soap may be used. Be sure to rinse the bowl thoroughly. If there are rocks, rinse those thoroughly, too.
Pour the new water and Betta from the plastic container back into the original fish bowl and place the plant back on top. Do not feed the fish for 24 hours. The Betta needs time to destress before eating. Otherwise, it will die.
How to Care for a Betta Bowl With a Plant
Betta fish are majestic and flowing fish, known also as Siamese fighting fish because they are very aggressive and territorial. For this reason, it is recommended only one fish be placed per bowl, and each bowl should hold about a gallon and a half of water. Any plants that are used in the Betta bowl must be hydroponic plants. These plants will feed off of the waste produced by the fish.
