How to Know When Your Betta Is Done Making Its Bubble Nest

A healthy and happy male betta fish will build a bubble nest when it is ready to mate. Bubble nests will appear as clusters of bubbles around the surface of the tank. When the male and female betta fish breed, the eggs are picked up by the male betta and placed into the the bubble nest. Building bubble nests is an instinctual behavior for most betta fish; many male betta fish will build a bubble nest regardless of whether or not a female betta fish is also in the aquarium.
