Instructions
Keep water temperature between 75 degrees and 86 degrees. Bettas are a tropical fish, so they like warm temperatures. If you keep your water around a consistent 80 degrees, you will keep your betta happy and have a successful breeding. You will also want to make sure that the pH in the water remains a constant 7.
Find a pair of bettas that are suitable to breed. Why you are breeding bettas should determine the quality of ones you choose. If you are wanting to sell them or give them away as pets, you probably want to choose a high-quality betta. There may be a breeder in your area that is reputable. Typical types that breeders use are the veil tail, halfmoon or crowntail bettas.
Place bettas in their new environment. Allow your couple to get familiar with their surroundings. Bettas typically spawn dozens to hundreds of betta fry. These fry will grow into adult bettas.
Take the female out of the tank after the eggs are fertilized. Female bettas will eat the eggs. Also, the male is the protector of the eggs, and can become aggressive with the female while tending to his fry. Keep your adult bettas safe and secure.
Keep an eye on the eggs. The eggs will hatch after two days. They will remain in their nest until they are ready to swim free. Keep an eye on them and watch them grow into the bettas you worked so hard to create.
How to Breed Your Siamese Bettas
Siamese betta fish are also known as Siamese fighting fish. Most people usually call them betta fish. Betta fish are easy to care for and are a very hardy fish species. This makes them a great fish to have in your home, especially for the first-time fish owner. Typically bettas are peaceful fish, but when you are planning on having more than one betta, keep only one male in the tank at one time. Males will fight until one dies, especially during breeding.
