How big are kestrels?
The kestrel is a small falcon. The common kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) is the most widespread species, found throughout much of Europe, Asia and Africa, and parts of Australia. It is 32-39 cm (12.5-15.5 in) in length, with a wingspan of 65-82 cm (25.5-32.5 in), and weighs 180-320 g (6.3-11.3 oz). The male is typically smaller than the female. The kestrel is sexually dimorphic, with the male having bluish-grey wings and tail, while the female has rufous wings and tail.
