What do real reeindeer eat?

Real reindeer primarily feed on lichens, a combination of algae and fungi commonly found in Arctic and subarctic regions. Lichens are typically found attached to rocks, trees, and other surfaces. Reindeer have specially adapted mouths that allow them to graze on lichens, even in harsh winter conditions. During summer months, they may also eat other vegetation, such as grasses, leaves, and shoots of various plants. Their diet can also include mushrooms and even small insects.
