What is a painted Molly Fish?

Scientific name: Poecilia latipinna

Lifespan: 3-5 years

Max Size: 3-4 inches (10-12 cm)

Painted Mollies are livebearers that originate from Central/South America. These beautiful mollies have a silver base colour body that are marked with a mix of dark blue to black spots resembling a Dalmatian dog, earning them the nickname Polka Dot Molly.

Their fins, as the name suggests, have vibrant color patterns with orange, or gold and black edges; and sometimes their bodies or the base of the caudal fin will also show an intense yellow colour for females and blue in males.
