What do sea nettles eat?

Sea nettles, like all jellyfish, are carnivores. They feed on a variety of small marine organisms, including:

* Plankton: These microscopic organisms, both plant (phytoplankton) and animal (zooplankton), are a staple food source.

* Small fish: Sea nettles can capture and consume small fish, particularly young ones.

* Crustaceans: They may eat tiny crustaceans like copepods, shrimp larvae, and crab larvae.

* Other jellyfish: Larger sea nettles may even prey on smaller jellyfish species.

They catch their prey by using their tentacles, which are covered in stinging cells called nematocysts. These cells release a toxin that paralyzes the prey, allowing the sea nettle to pull it into its mouth.
