What does a mountain tapir eat?

Mountain tapirs are herbivores, which means they eat plants! Their diet mainly consists of:

* Fruits: They love to eat fallen fruits like figs, mangoes, and berries.

* Leaves: They browse on leaves from trees and shrubs.

* Shoots: They also nibble on young, tender shoots.

* Grasses: Although not their primary food, they will eat grass when available.

* Other plant matter: They may eat roots, bark, and even flowers.

Their long snout helps them reach leaves and fruits that are high up in the trees, making them excellent browsers. They have strong teeth that are ideal for grinding up tough plant material.
