What eat electric eels?

Electric eels are apex predators in their environment and have very few natural predators. However, some animals that may prey on them, especially juveniles or smaller eels, include:

* Caimans: These large reptiles are strong enough to subdue an electric eel and have tough skin that can withstand its electric shock.

* Large fish: Some large fish, like piranhas and catfish, may occasionally attack young or weakened electric eels.

* Birds: Larger wading birds like herons and storks might hunt smaller eels.

* Other electric eels: Cannibalism is known to occur among electric eels, especially when food is scarce.

It's important to note that most of these predators are not regular or common prey for electric eels. Their electric shock provides a powerful defense mechanism, making them formidable opponents in their aquatic habitat.
