What kind of animals does a starfish eat?

Starfish, also known as sea stars, are surprisingly carnivorous! They primarily feed on:

* Bivalves: Clams, oysters, mussels are favorites. Starfish use their tube feet to pry open the shells and then push their stomach inside to digest the soft body.

* Other invertebrates: They also eat barnacles, snails, worms, and even other starfish.

* Dead animals: Starfish are opportunistic feeders and will scavenge on dead fish and other marine life.

It's interesting to note that starfish don't have a mouth in the traditional sense. They have a central opening in their body that acts as both a mouth and an anus!
