Things You'll Need
- Bucket
- Water
- Manure
- Jar
- Fish net
Instructions
Fill a bucket with water and a couple handfuls of manure. Let it sit in partial shade for several days until the water is green with algae. This is what the mosquitoes will feed off.
Wait five to seven days and check frequently for mosquito eggs. Look for small egg rafts which are dense clusters of small eggs on the surface of the water.
Move the eggs from the bucket to a jar of room-temperature, fresh tap water with a fish net. Leave them here until they reach their larvae stage of development. At this stage they will look like long insects that will wiggle when disturbed.
Quickly skim the larvae from the surface of the water with the fish net. Feed as many of the larvae to the fish as you want and freeze the rest for later feedings.
