Devil Fish Diet

Two different types of fish are both called devil fish, and each requires different foods in its diet. Knowing which type of fish you have and how to feed it properly will ensure its healthy life and longevity.
  1. Blue Devil Fish Feeding

    • The blue devil damselfish, or blue damselfish, is an omnivore, meaning it eats both plants and animals. The blue devil should be fed frozen or flaked foods and herbivore preparations.

    Red Devil Cichlid Feeding

    • The red devil cichlid is also an omnivore. Ocean plankton, quality flake food, cichlid pellets, bloodworms or occasional brine shrimp are ideal foods for it.

    Identification

    • The blue devil is the most commonly used fish for cycling a saltwater tank in the U.S. The blue devil fish, which measures approximately 2.5 inches at full size, is native to the Indo-Pacific region and is commonly found living in reefs. The red devil fish is found from Nicaragua to Costa Rica. Red devil fish pair up and make family units, with both parents caring for the offspring. They will reach up to 12 inches at full size.
