How to Make Guppy Fry Food

Raising your own fish is fascinating and rewarding. All baby fish, called fry, look fairly similar before they develop their mature forms later in life. One of the most fascinating parts of raising guppies is the fact that they are livebearers; instead of laying eggs, the female gives birth to live fry. Keeping your fry healthy involves creating a safe and nurturing environment and providing proper care. Feeding them the proper food will ensure that they grow and thrive. There is an inexpensive and nutritious fry food you can make in your own home.

Instructions

    • 1

Place an egg in a saucepan and submerge it in water.

    • 2

Place the pan on a stove and bring the water to a boil. Reduce to medium heat and simmer for 20 minutes.

    • 3

Remove pan from the stove, pour out hot water, and cover the egg with cool water. Let sit for 10 minutes or until the egg is cool to the touch.

    • 4

Peel the shell from the hard-boiled egg.

    • 5

Cut the egg in half and scoop the yolk into a re-sealable container.

    • 6

Add three or four drops of water to the yolk as you mash it with your finger or a spoon to create a paste.

    • 7

Feed very small amounts of this paste to your fry twice a day.
