If your pet aquarium fish is constipated, you will notice a reduced appetite, very little (or none) bowel movements and they may have an enlarged tummy. They may also uncharacteristically sit at the bottom of your fish tank.

To treat this condition, apply a 1/2 teaspoon of epsom salts (magnesium sulphate) per gallon of water in your fish aquarium.

    • 3

If your fish recovers from this, look to the fish's diet. Be certain you are feeding the correct diet for your specific fish. Also be certain you are not overfeeding your fish as that can also be a cause.

Monitor your fish aquarium's temperature. Temperature can also alter proper digestion.
