How to Feed Clown Loaches

Clown loaches are an aquarium fish originally from Indonesia. They are attractive fish with red-orange colors, black stripes and an almost shark-like profile. These fish have the added bonus of being more active during the day than many loaches, a notoriously nocturnal group. They are slightly more picky about their food than most community fish, but with a little effort their dietary needs can be accommodated.

Instructions

    • 1

Add live aquarium plants "contaminated" with snails to the loach's tank. Clown loaches are known and loved for their taste for snails. Most pet shops will give you pest snails if you ask nicely.

    • 2

Feed dry food. Only add as much food as the fish can eat in a minute or so as extra food will be ignored and rot.

    • 3

Add other foods for variety. Older specimens can be more finicky and may refuse prepared (dry, flake) foods. Try using live or frozen worms. Apply the same rules as dry food.

    • 4

Vacuum any leftover food out of the tank to prevent it from rotting and fouling the water.
