Sea monkeys are a type of brine shrimp that produce eggs that survive for long periods of time out of the water. They have been popular beginners pets for many years. Sea monkey food is sold through any retailer that sells monkeys, but can get expensive and is not readily available if you run out and need it immediately. Making your own is inexpensive and easy with a few supplies.
Things You'll Need
- Boiled egg
- Dry infant cereal
- Liquid fry food
- Flake fish food
- Cookie sheet
- Rolling pin
Instructions
Remove the white of the boiled egg and discard. Place the yolk in a bowl and add one tablespoon of infant cereal. Use a fork to combine, until the mixture resembles a smooth, thick paste.
Add three to four drops of liquid fry food and a pinch of flake food. Mix together, breaking up the flakes while you stir.
Form the dough in to small biscuits, making them as thin as possible. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet with a small space between each one. Cook at 200 degrees until they are completely dried.
Remove the pan from the oven and set them aside to cool completely. Crush them with a rolling pin, making the powder as fine as possible to make it easier for the sea monkeys to eat. Store the powder in a container that is not see-through and air tight.
