What did a eurypterid eat?

Eurypterids were predators that fed on a variety of invertebrates and vertebrates, including trilobites, molluscs, fish, and even other eurypterids. They used their powerful claws to capture and crush their prey. Some eurypterids, such as the giant Jaekelopterus rhenaniae, were apex predators that reached up to 2.5 metres in length and were likely able to take down prey much larger than themselves. Eurypterids are thought to have been important members of the ancient food web, helping to control the populations of other animals.
