What do unicorn fish eat?

Unicorn fish primarily feed on algae and zooplankton, including diatoms, copepods, and other small organisms. They are known as grazers and spend much of their time foraging on rocky surfaces, coral reefs, and algae-rich environments. Their specialized mouths, equipped with small teeth and a protruding lower jaw, help them scrape algae from various substrates. While algae form a significant part of their diet, unicorn fish may also consume small invertebrates like crustaceans and worms to supplement their nutrition.
