What do weakfish eat?
Weakfish (Cynoscion regalis) are opportunistic predators and their diet varies depending on what's available in their environment. They usually feed near the bottom, preying on smaller fish like anchovies, silversides, and menhaden. They also eat crustaceans such as shrimp and crabs, and some aquatic invertebrates like squid, worms, and even small bivalves. Weakfish are also known to cannibalize on their own young.
