What does a plaice feed on?

Plaice are opportunistic feeders, meaning they will eat a variety of prey items depending on what is available. Their diet mainly consists of small fish such as sand eels, sprats, and young whiting. They also feed on crustaceans like shrimps, prawns, and crabs, as well as molluscs such as cockles, mussels, and squid. Additionally, plaice may consume polychaetes, or marine worms, and other benthic invertebrates found on the seabed.
