- Lighting
- Timer
- Fresh water
- Live rock
- Frozen krill
- 5-gallon aquarium tank
- Fish food
Instructions
Set up a 30-gallon aquarium tank. Install lighting and connect it to a timer to give the fish a routine of light and darkness. Fill the tank with fresh water to keep the fish happy. Insert enough live rock in the aquarium to provide plenty of hiding places for the clown triggerfish. This is where the clown triggerfish will lay their eggs.
Place the mated pair of clown triggerfish in the tank. Once the fish get used to their environment they will naturally prepare to start spawning.
Feed the clown triggerfish 3.5 ounces of frozen krill twice a day on a regular schedule and always feed the fish at the same times each day.
Clean the water in the tank by regularly changing at least 10 percent of the total volume. Clean water makes clown triggerfish more likely to spawn.
Watch for spawning time. Both the male and female will have small tubes sticking out. A pregnant clown triggerfish is thicker in the middle of her body. Clown triggerfish also clean rock with their mouths and fins at spawning time.
Wait until the eggs hatch. Transfer the baby fish into a 5-gallon aquarium tank. By transferring them, the baby clown triggerfish will be assured of enough food without competition from the older fish.
