Things You'll Need
- Pond net
- Trip alarm
- Decoys
Instructions
First, you need to find out what animals you are dealing with. If you live in the south east, like I do, you will probably be dealing with gophers, birds, racoons, cats, and dogs. Once you find out what animals you have to keep away, you can go to the next step, buying the equipment needed to protect the fish.
One thing that can help in any part of the world is a good pond net. These are nets that go all the way over the pond and keeps animals from getting into the water to get the fish. Try to get one made out of nylon, those are the strongest.
Some animals, like the avian, are terrotorial, so if you put avian decoys around the pond, you will keep the real ones out. Now if this does not work, you need to read the next step, trip alarms.
Trip alarms are triggered by an animal that comes within close proximity of the alarm. You can get the loud noise makers, which when triggered will ring for a preset time (usually 15 seconds), one that makes an inaudible sound to humans, and even one that triggers one or more sprinklers. Hope this helps!
