Are extinct animals mainly sea or land?

Extinct animals include both sea and land species. Many marine species, such as the Steller's sea cow and the great auk, have gone extinct due to human activities like overhunting and habitat destruction. On land, numerous species of mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians have also become extinct. Some well-known examples include the woolly mammoth, the dodo bird, and the Tasmanian tiger. While it's challenging to determine the exact proportions of extinct sea and land animals, both environments have experienced significant biodiversity losses.
