Can a dog eat canned tuna?

While a small amount of tuna is unlikely to cause serious harm, it isn't something you should feed your dog regularly. Canned tuna is often packed in brine or oil which can be unhealthy for dogs. The can also contain small bones, which can be a choking hazard.

Additionally, tuna tends to be high in mercury. Smaller fish generally contain less mercury than large fish, but you should still limit the amount of tuna your dog eats.

If you're going to feed your dog tuna, make sure:

- It is packed in water, not oil or brine.

- It is boneless.

- You only give your dog small amounts occasionally.
