How do Siamese fish sleep?

Siamese fish, also known as betta fish, do not sleep in the same way that humans or other mammals do. Instead, they engage in a period of inactivity known as "resting." During this time, they may rest on the bottom of the tank, float near the surface, or cling to plants or decorations.

While resting, Siamese fish will typically reduce their activity level and may lose their bright colors. They may also close their eyes and stop responding to stimuli for short periods. However, they can be easily startled or awakened if disturbed.

Siamese fish do not experience REM sleep, which is the stage of sleep associated with dreaming in humans. This means that they are not likely to have dreams or experience the same type of sleep-wake cycle as other animals.

It's important to note that Siamese fish require regular rest periods to maintain their health and well-being. Providing a peaceful, quiet environment with plenty of places for the fish to rest will help ensure they get the sleep they need.
