Why does whaling still occur today?
Whaling does not still occur today. The International Whaling Commission (IWC) was established in 1946 to regulate the whaling industry and set catch limits for different whale species. In 1986, the IWC adopted a moratorium on commercial whaling, which means that it is illegal for commercial whalers to kill whales. However, some countries still hunt whales for scientific research or subsistence purposes.
