How to Remove Copper From a Tank

Copper is used in saltwater fish tanks to kill parasites that can be dangerous to fish. However, copper can raise the nitrate and ammonia levels in a tank to toxic levels. It generally takes approximately two weeks to one month of treatment before the parasites are killed in the tank, and after treatment it can take up to one month to completely remove traces of copper from a tank.
