What is the habitat of an ocean sunfish?
The ocean sunfish (Mola mola) is found in all the world's oceans, but it is most common in tropical and subtropical waters. It lives in the upper layers of the ocean, usually between the surface and 100 meters (330 feet) deep. Adult sunfish are known to inhabit depths between the surface and 650 m (2,130 ft), although they are rarely seen below 200 m (660 ft). Juveniles are found in association with jellyfish, while sub-adults often accompany leatherback sea turtles. This species is found alone, in pairs, and in aggregations of up to 150 individuals, but larger groups have also been observed.
