What is the perch measurement?

Perch (symbol: perch or pe; also spelled Perche) is an old English (and French) unit of length based on the length of a wooden pole used for measuring land.

Its value varied widely by location and time, but by the late 14th century it was generally regarded as consisting of 16½ feet or 5.0292 metres.

In most locations a perch was equal to a rod, pole or chain and was one quarter of a chain.

However, in areas with links to the ancient Forest of Dean customary measures a perch could be as long as 24 feet (7.3152 m).
