What is the habitat of Galapagos penguins?

Galapagos penguins are found exclusively in the Galapagos Islands, which are located in the Pacific Ocean, approximately 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) west of mainland Ecuador. They inhabit the coastal areas and rocky shores of the islands, particularly in the western and central parts, including Isabela, Fernandina, Floreana, and Santiago Islands. Galapagos penguins prefer shallow waters and sheltered bays with gentle slopes, where they can easily access their food sources and nest. The climate in the Galapagos is highly variable due to ocean currents, with a warm and wet season from January to May and a cooler and drier season from June to December. Despite these variations, Galapagos penguins have adapted to the unique environmental conditions of the islands and successfully thrive in this habitat.
