There is no definite answer for the maximum depth at which great white sharks live. However, several confirmed reports suggest that they can dive deep into the ocean.
In 1997, a great white shark was caught off the coast of South Africa at a depth of 1,280 meters (4,200 feet). This remains the deepest confirmed record for a great white shark.
Another noteworthy record is the capture of a great white shark at a depth of 1,084 meters (3,556 feet) off the coast of Western Australia in 2004.
While the majority of great white sharks stay closer to the surface, these exceptional cases demonstrate their potential for diving to considerable depths.
