What Are the Treatments for Sick Fish?

A number of different treatment options are available for dealing with sick fish. Many different illnesses can befall one or several fish in a tank, requiring you to take immediate action to save the fish.
  1. Ich

    • Ich presents as small white spots on the skin and the fins and is treated using Quick-Cure, Ich-Ease, Coppersafe, Aquari-Sol and Cure-Ick.

    Velvet

    • Velvet presents as a peppery coating, yellowish color and clamped fins and is treated using Coppersafe, Cure-Ick and Quick-Cure.

    Mouth Fungus

    • Mouth fungus presents as white or gray fluffy patches around the mouth and is treated using Methyl blue, Maracyn, Fungus Cure and antibiotics.

    Flukes

    • Flukes presents as unusual racing around the tank or red or black nodules underneath the skin and is treated using Paragon and Fluke-Tabs.

    Costia and Chilodonella

    • Costia and Chilodonella present with a milky cloudiness on the skin of the fish and are treated using Acriflavine, Coppersafe and Quick-Cure.

    Tail Rot and Fin Rot

    • Tail rot and fin rot present with destruction of the tail or fins and are treated using Maracyn, Tetracycline, Methyl blue, penicillin, Organi-Cure, Acriflavine, Chloromycetin and antibiotics.
