Do humans carry salmonella in their blood?

Humans do not normally carry Salmonella in their blood. Salmonella is a bacteria that typically causes food poisoning and lives in the intestinal tracts of animals and humans.

However, in rare cases, Salmonella can enter the bloodstream, causing a condition known as bloodstream infection or bacteremia.

This can occur in individuals with weakened immune systems or in severe cases of food poisoning. Symptoms of bloodstream infection may include fever, chills, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
