All parts of the plant are toxic, but the leaves and stems are the most dangerous. The plant contains toxic chemicals that can cause a number of health problems in fish, including:
- Poisoning: Contains saponins, which are harmful to cold blooded animals
- Skin ulcers
- Fin damage
- Internal organ damage
- Death
Some fish may try to eat the wandering Jew plant because of its vibrant colors and shiny leaves, but it should be kept away from aquariums and fish tanks to keep fish safe.
