How to Clean an Aquarium Aqua-Tech Pump

No matter what the size of your aquarium, it is important to have a solid aquarium pump in place. Since an aquarium is a closed system, hobbyists must make sure there is adequate filtration. Using a quality aquarium pump in conjunction with a good corner filter or undergravel filtration system is the best way to make sure your fish stay healthy. Unplug the Aqua-Tech pump and disconnect it from the aquarium. Clean the outside of the pump with a damp cloth to remove any hard water stains and dirt.

    • 2

Use a small screwdriver to remove the small screws on the bottom of the pump. Carefully pull the bottom of the pump free of the housing.

    • 3

Clean any accumulated algae and debris from inside the pump, especially around the impeller and the motor. Algae can get into this housing and cause the motor to fail prematurely.

Replace the screws and secure the bottom of the Aqua-Tech pump to the housing. Reconnect the air hose from the pump to the aquarium equipment it powers, then plug the pump back in.
