How to Install a Bubble Wall in an Aquarium

Aquariums are often used as decoration. Brightly colored fish, beautiful underwater plants and other aquarium decorations provide a focal point for an otherwise boring room. There are many accessories to improve the look of your aquarium, such as a bubble wall. Bubble walls emit a constant stream of bubbles that is both visually appealing and practical. Bubble walls are created using an air stone that is plugged into a pump̵2;the oxygen is beneficial for fish and plants in the tank.

Instructions

    • 1

Attach a length of clear, aquarium hose to the air stone. Attach the other end of the hose to the aquarium̵7;s air pump.

    • 2

Lower the air stone into the aquarium, towards the back. Since you want the wall of bubbles to create a backdrop for your aquarium it is best to place the stone at the back, out of plain view.

    • 3

Move the stone side to side, pushing it into the gravel at the bottom of the tank. Air stones are very lightweight and will need to be embedded in the pebbles to help them stay put. If your air stone is attached to a high power pump, it will need to be buried a bit deeper but make sure the air holes are not blocked by stones.

Turn on the pump to start the bubbles. When you turn on the pump, air will come through the small holes on the air stone, creating a wall of bubbles at the back of your tank. Use a larger, longer stone for a long bubble wall that spans the entire back of your fish tank.
