How to Install an AquaTech Filter 20-40

Aquarium filters ensure that your tank water stays clear of particulates and free of toxic nitrates and ammonia. The Aquatech 20-40 uses a three-stage filter that first removes particulates by pulling water through a physical filter. The removes the nitrates and ammonia through an activated carbon chemical filter. The third stage provides a surface area for beneficial bacteria to thrive that also remove nitrates and ammonia. The Aquatech 20-40 fully filters tanks between 20 to 40 gallons.

Install the impeller, a piece about 1.5 inches long, into the well in the circular water inflow on the right side of the filter, with the spinning impeller oriented to the bottom. Insert the shorter side of the intake tube in the well, with the longer side running out of the front of the filter, towards the inside of the tank; add the slotted intake guard to the tube.

Rinse the activated carbon filter in water and insert it into the second slot of the output side of the filter. The filter housing helps you orient the filter. Insert the physical fiber filter behind the activated carbon filter, and add the bio-fiber filter. Now put the top on, and the filter is assembled.

You may put the Aquatech 20-40 on either side of your tank, but check the aquarium's top for slotted plastic brackets that enable you to remove a section of the top for a power filter. Ensure that your tank is filled before plugging in your filter. Add water to the reservoir in the back and plug it in.

Clean your filter regularly. Use a wire brush to clean the intake pipe, clean the impeller and change the carbon filter according to the manufacturer's guidelines. Keep the physical filter clean by running it under water.
