It grows especially well on the fake plants, and the cracks and crevices can be difficult to clean. Instructions

Remove the plants from the tank and wipe off as much of the algae as you can with a sponge. Most algae will come right off, though you may need to use a scraper for stubborn deposits.

Soak the fake plants in a solution of 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. Use a toothbrush to scrub the hard-to-reach spots. This will kill any algae on the plants, but be sure you rinse them well and let them dry before you return them to the aquarium.

Add to the tank peaceful algae-eating fish such as black mollies, otocinclus catfish or Siamese algae eaters. Make sure that your tank meets the housing requirements of your chosen species before you add the fish.
