Instructions for the Aqua-Tech 20-40 Filter

A hang-on filter is a simple and easy-to-use filtration solution for freshwater and saltwater aquariums. The Aqua-Tech 20-40 filter provides all three of the critical types of aquarium filtration: mechanical, chemical and biological. It does this with a physical strainer for mechanical filtration, a replaceable carbon filter for chemical filtration and fibers for beneficial bacterial growth to provide biological filtration. Despite all of these features, the unit is extremely easy to assemble and very user-friendly.

Instructions

    • 1

Rinse the EZ-Cartridge with cold water for about 30 seconds. The carbon in the filter often contains a fine carbon dust. The dust is harmless, but can cloud the water temporarily. Rinsing removes this dust.

    • 2

Slide the cartridge into the filter. There will be a notched groove where the filter belongs. The fuzzy part of the filter should face inward.

    • 3

Mount the filter on the back of the aquarium. The filter simply hangs on the back of the fish tank.

    • 4

Prime the pump. Simply fill the pump with aquarium water. A pump will not function unless it is filled with water.

    • 5

Plug in the pump. It will take up to 30 seconds for the pump to start running.

    • 6

Add more water to the aquarium once the pump is running, if necessary. (The pump may lower the water level slightly when it first starts.)

    • 7

Replace the filter cartridge every 30 days. The replacement for this unit will be labeled "EZ-change #3." Be certain to rinse the new cartridge when you replace it.
