1. Gather the tools and materials you need. You will need a bucket or container to catch the water, a wrench, a screwdriver, a putty knife, and a new sink stopper.
2. Place the bucket or container under the trap to catch the water that will drain out.
3. Remove the sink stopper. Using the screwdriver, pry the old sink stopper out of the drain. Be careful not to drop the stopper into the drain.
4. Loosen the nuts that hold the trap in place. Use the wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the trap in place. Be careful not to drop the nuts into the drain.
5. Remove the trap. Once the nuts are loosened, you can remove the trap from the sink. Be careful not to spill any water from the trap.
6. Clean the trap. Use a putty knife to scrape off any dirt or debris from the trap. Rinse the trap with clean water.
7. Install the new trap. Place the new trap in place and hand-tighten the nuts. Be sure to place the washer between the trap and the sink.
8. Tighten the nuts. Use the wrench to tighten the nuts until they are snug. Be careful not to over-tighten the nuts.
9. Replace the sink stopper. Insert the new sink stopper into the drain. Be sure to press down on the stopper until it is seated properly.
Your sink is now unclogged and ready to use.
