What are the five freshwater dolphins?

There are actually four species of freshwater dolphins, not five:

1. Amazon River Dolphin (Inia geoffrensis): Found in the Amazon and Orinoco river systems in South America. Also known as the "Pink River Dolphin" due to its pink coloration in some individuals.

2. Boto (Inia geoffrensis): This is the same species as the Amazon River Dolphin, but this name refers specifically to the subspecies found in the Amazon River.

3. Ganges River Dolphin (Platanista gangetica): Found in the Ganges and Brahmaputra river systems in India, Bangladesh, and Nepal. Also known as the "Blind River Dolphin" as they have very poor eyesight.

4. Indus River Dolphin (Platanista gangetica minor): Found in the Indus River in Pakistan. This is a subspecies of the Ganges River Dolphin and also has poor eyesight.

There is no fifth freshwater dolphin species.
