Things You'll Need
- Breeding aquarium
- Fish nets
- Baby Brine Shrimp
Instructions
Put two males and one female in a separate aquarium that you will use only for breeding purposes. Keep this aquarium plain without the usual decoration to make it easier to watch and manage the eggs, although keep the water temperate and pH balance the same as your original tank. Once the eggs are laid, they are very sticky and hard to remove from the glass or other surfaces in the aquarium.
Allow your Cory Cats time to get used to their new surroundings, feeding them four times a day. After a few days, drop the temperature down in the tank to 65 degrees. This can be accomplished by either dropping a couple of ice cubes into the aquarium or adding cool water if space allows. Make sure to turn down the heater in the tank so it doesn't heat right back up.
Remove the three Cory Cats the next morning, the aquarium should have several eggs throughout. Put the Cory Cats back into their original aquarium, then gradually heat the breeding aquarium back up to 72 degrees.
Feed the newborn Corys baby brine shrimp once they start hatching in about 10 days. After about a week you will be able to feed them whatever you are feeding your other Cory Cats.
