Things You'll Need
- Large tank
- Live food
- Produce
- Heater
- Blackwater extract
Instructions
Keep your angelfish in a large tank. These tall fish need space to move about freely. Two angelfish need at least a 30-gallon tank. The larger the tank, the more pampered your fish will be.
Feed your angelfish only fresh and live foods. Although angelfish will eat most any fish flake, live and fresh foods will pamper your fish. Angelfish will eat any live foods it can fit into its mouth and swallow whole. This can include small brine and even small minnows and tetras. You can also feed the angelfish fresh produce such as lettuce or carrot slices.
Keep the temperature between 78 and 82 degrees F with an aquarium heater. Angelfish are tolerant of lower temperatures, but tend to hover near the heater if the temperature goes below 78 degrees. In the range of 78 to 82 degrees, they can be very active.
Add a blackwater extract to the water according to the directions on the bottle. This aquarium additive contains peat extract, something that is naturally found in Amazonian waters. This will give the water a slightly brown color that you may have to get used to, but which makes for more natural water conditions for your angelfish.
