Is a flying fish bird or fish?
Flying fish are actually fish, not birds. They belong to the family Exocoetidae, which includes around 64 different species. These ocean dwellers are unique because of their ability to glide through the air above water. They achieve this by using their long pectoral fins, which act like wings, and their streamlined body shape, which reduces drag. Flying fish propel themselves out of the water by swimming quickly and then beating their tails, and can glide for distances up to 400 feet.
