What is the largest of salmonids?
The largest of salmonids is the Chinook salmon, also known as the king salmon or spring salmon. Chinook salmon are anadromous fish, meaning they are born in freshwater but spend most of their lives in saltwater. They are found in the Pacific Ocean from California to Alaska and in the Yukon River drainage system. Chinook salmon are a popular game fish and are also commercially fished. They can grow up to 1.5 metres in length and weigh over 50 kilograms.
