Do sturgeon live in the ocean?

Some sturgeon species live in the ocean, while others live in freshwater environments. For example, the white sturgeon (Acipenser transmontanus) is an anadromous species, meaning it spends part of its life in the ocean and part in freshwater. White sturgeon are found in the North Pacific Ocean and spawn in freshwater rivers in California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. Some sturgeon species, such as the Atlantic sturgeon (Acipenser oxyrinchus), are entirely marine and live their entire lives in the ocean.
