What does a blob fish do?

The blobfish is a deep-sea fish, and honestly, we don't know a lot about what it actually *does* in its natural environment!

Here's what we *do* know:

* It lives in the deep sea: Blobfish are found off the coast of Australia and Tasmania, at depths of 600-1,200 meters (2,000-4,000 feet).

* It's a very poor swimmer: Because of its gelatinous body and lack of muscle, the blobfish doesn't swim actively. It mostly rests on the seafloor, relying on currents to bring food to it.

* It eats whatever comes its way: The blobfish is an opportunistic feeder and eats small invertebrates and crustaceans that drift by.

The blobfish is considered a vulnerable species, and its population is threatened by deep-sea fishing.

We are still learning about this fascinating creature, and hopefully, we'll learn more about its habits and behavior as research continues!
